The requirements
- The site is next to the beach, so sea views are a must.
- Extension of an existing house, buried in the dunes.
- New house to have four bedrooms, all en-suite.
- Master bedroom to have two en-suites and two walk-in-wardrobes, as well as excellent views to two directions.
- Open kitchen/ dining/ living room separately by a modern fireplace.
- The dwelling has to have a gym, a snug area and a study.
The solution
It was decided that the remains of the existing house would be completely buried and used as a basement. This basement would have the gym, a bathroom and a huge utility.
On the ground floor, a big open kitchen and dining would be connected to the main living through a modern fireplace, all of them enjoying the magnificent sea views. Two en-suite bedrooms and the small snug area are on this floor as well.
On the first floor, the study is next to the massive master bedroom. Another en-suite bedroom is placed on this floor. The two bedrooms and the study are connected thanks to a timber terrace that can be used during the winter time due to the external fireplace.
