The requirements
- Building to be a box whose dimensions are: 35m long, 17’5m wide and 7m high.
- Only one opening on one of the facades.
- Only one opening on the upper part.
- Building to accommodate a scaled model (7m x 7m) of Valencia.
- Informative area.
The solution
This museum was designed as a box inside a box. The external box is a perforated metallic skin, completely open on the upper part. This gives the idea of being inside a box but letting the sun and the views to go inside the internal box.
The internal box, on the contrary, is transparent, using crittal windows to get the idea of permeability. The model is located at the back of the building, being the front a big lobby for expositions and information panels.
