The solution
The existing house was extended to the front and to the rear. A third storey was added to the rear of the house in order to achieve all the requirements. The pitched roofs were removed and changed to flat roofs, one with a sedum roof and the other one with PV panels.
The house is divided in day/ night floor plans, with the exemption of the ground floor, which acts as a buffer. On the ground floor there is the guest bedroom, as well as the utility and all the services (plant room and storage).
On the first floor the open kitchen/ dining/ living room enjoy the views of the sea with a balcony and some timber louvres in sliders to provide some privacy. There is a formal living and the study to the rear, with access to the garden.
On the second floor are all the bedrooms, including the master bedroom with its walk-in-wardrobe and a master en-suite with bath and shower. The corridor is full of light thanks to the big rooflight in the middle.
